Lee
!st......The Regal is back in operation!!!!! Man I missed that car. When I did plugs on the 95 bonni, the lowest coil pack posts (1_4) were really rusty. The other four were fine. I have some driving issues with the car and wondered if this is a good culprit. I scotchbrite buffed the posts and put on di-electric grease. It had no effect on the problem which is that in the first 1/4 mile, motor cold or hot, it has a stutter and won't accelerate. If you keep the pedal down a bit it will surge, if you back off and wait 10 seconds or so....the problem goes away for the duration of the trip. Also sometimes, like accelerating onto the freeway, if you give it some good amount of gas pedal, it just flutters and doesn't accelerate. Other times....like from a stop...it'll accelerate great. I did plugs and wires with autolites but haven't done a fuel filter, O2 sensor or I.A.C./throttlebody cleaning yet. I got interested in this coil thing and wanted to find out about it first. Thanks!!!!!
Lee
Bump....nothing for me at all? Bad enough I get ignored on BonnevilleClub but my own faithful w-body site, for which I've been a member since the old board style. I'm hurt guys.....hurt I can't be the first with this "start-up/first 1/4 mile" stutter.
slick
I would pull the coils off and check the connections with the ICM as well. If the posts were rusty, it's hard saying how the connections between the two were.
ns87
I don't have an answer having never driven a 3.8, but congrats with the regal. edit: Maybe it isn't an ignition problem? Fuel filter/fuel pump?
