GtipGary
Yesterday driving home my car was making a loud hissing noise... when i pulled up at my house and openend my hood it turns out that my EGR valve was melting and it melted two vacuum hoses that were near it. I replaced the two vacuum hoses and changed the EGR. Now when i drive the car it bogs down REALLY bad and the EGR makes a really strange noise and continues to get extremely hot. Does anyone have the slightest idea of what could be causing this it is driving me CRAZY!!!

19Cutlass94
well in response to your first post, the hissing is a vaccum leak. The EGR takes gas right from the rear manifold. That gas is well pretty hot. If the plenum port got plugged up when everything melted, this would explain why it gets very hot, as the gases have no where to go. CNBZ34
if you are bogging and have lack of power, I would suspect that the cat is getting restricted. Especially if it's forcing hot exhaust gas with enough force to the EGR valve to melt it. Recommend performing a back pressure test just prior to the cat.
