slick
Check your oil in a day or two once it is warmed up. When it's cold, the fluids will start to seperate. Slick is the headgasket master Yeah yeah yeah. Anyways, did you replace with a drilled 180* t-stat as well? I'm doing that when I do my gaskets and replacement plenum. BTW, whats the normal operating temp range for these 3800's? Ever since I've had a ton of problems with the Acura, I always worry now. Andrew
i already had a 180 stat, so i drilled it. as for normal temp, ill have to watch the guage, i dont recall offhand.
Andrew
Chris, before i did all this, the normal temp was around the tick mark that represents 185. it has gone a little higher than 210 in summertime city driving. now it seems to be down a couple degrees since i drilled the t-stat. i am however, getting the code po118 coolant temp circuit high input.... from what ive read i just gotta replace the sensor, which is $20 at Napa. i musta knocked it silly when i pulled the LIM. im gonna replace my plugs as well, i think they are fouled up from burning the coolant. its been taking 2-3 seconds longer to start in the mornings, then idles and runs normal. just gonna have to wait til Monday when i get paid. imma broke bitch right now!! the oil looked good too last time i checked it, so all is well. :EDIT: the gaskets and elbow finally got in today, from GMPD. freaking forever!! Chris, i paid $45 shipped, how is $40 shipped to you sound?

BTW, do you have any pictures of where you drilled yours at? I guess I could really drill it anywhere, I know stock I have seen them smack dab in the middle, others I have seen on the sides. Yeah, I'll do that for the gaskets and elbow. You sure you don't want $45?
Andrew
well sure if you want to pay $45 thats fine by me. i didnt take any pics. i drilled it on the sides though, 2 holes opposite each other. my cheapy drill bits took almost a minute for each hole. slick
I planned on two holes also. I think most people do just 1, but I like to play it safe, especially after the Acura.
slick
BTW, during highway driving at around 70 mph, my guage sits right about 185*. During city driving(excluding when i'm sitting in traffic), just a bit hotter. Right about the 200* mark really. It's been up to about 210* once, but I was sitting in traffic for a long ass time. Personally, I cannot wait to do the LIM gasket and APN intake manifold. The car *should* run a bit smoother.

Andrew
well yeehaw, guess what happens when you try to remove the crossover for the first time since the car was built? ya bust off fuckin bolts! so now i have an exhaust leak at the back connection. the only way imma be able to get the broken bolt out is if i remove the downpipe and go at it from there. ugh, ive been having bad luck last couple weeks. i sure hope i can do this myself. and i really dont want to have to remove the rear manifold either. on the bright side, i replaced the coolant temp sensor and that fixed the DTC. if only i coulda removed this sensor without having the crossover in the way............. dammit!
