i'm ditching A/C for performance reasons and will be needing a shorter belt. maybe a 2.8/3.1 from a Corsica could've come sans A/C if the W-bodies didn't? or a car from Canada? anyone know? TIA

btw, i'm selling my ECC stuff too for related reasons - see for sale section....

Mantapart.com actually has the option of a "Dead Pulley".

That would mean you'd have to pull the A/C compressor though...

...so this product may be not what you want.

Have you check your local autoparts store?

They usually ask me if my car has compressor or not and they have belt for with or without a compressor. I just checked http://www.autozone.com and they have a belt for my car with or without a compressor.

cool thanks for the replies. i'm getting rid of the compressor (heavy!) along with all A/C lines, condensor, etc. i figure getting rid of the A/C system will make the car a little lighter (i dunno how much), better flow thru the radiator and IC, and also room for a bigger FMIC later without the condensor in the way. i probably won't go with a bigger FMIC till i get a T3, bigger injectors, custom calibration blah blah blah....

thanks again

Hey... what's that "Or maybe a car from Canada" part supposed to mean? Cuz it's winter 10 months of the year, we don't get equipped with A/C?

It was friggin' hot here yesterday. 34 degrees C (don't know/don't care what that is farenheit) HOT!

autozone, all I can say is BLAH! I asked for a belt to bypass the a/c and so they gave me one, it didnt fit, so I took it back and they asked if im trying to bypass the a/c and they said if your car is OE equipped with a/c then getting a belt for a car that dont have a/c wont fit. I say well on the belt diagram it shows where to run the belt if you dont want the a/c and they said you have to measure the length of the belt. I just turned around and left. Bunch of morons!

Well, just like most technicians or autoparts clerk some are well versed and some are not.

I'd always explain to them what I want and why in a manner that they don't get offended for not knowing in the first place. An example was the charge oil for the A/C. They want to give me PAG but I have explain to them about the ESTER oil and that's what I have loaded on my new A/C compressor. The clerk did not know about the ESTER oil and was glad to know about the differences of PAG and ESTER but the clerk did not get offended because the way I explained it.

Clerks could care less if you buy or not. If they feel like they are threatened, you would get a shitty service and that is how people always react.

Some engine design is easy to by-pass the A/C compressor. Just like Redfox340 said, some engine needs some dead pulley to by-pass the A/C compressor.

A/C is my favorite part of summer

:werd: I'd rather drive a beat-up 82 Cavalier with A/C than a brand new Ferrari without it.
