l67 swap

Q-ball almost bought one off e-bay for a few grand. Other than that I would suggest checking with wreckers, I think I was quoted $1200 from the wreckers around here, but that was with no guarentees

i dont know.. having problems with it that i cant figure out... i already had another gp with an lq1 tons of problems that are a pain in the ass to fix ... im quite tired of the motor to be honest... also from what ive seen and ive talked to quite a few people, there arent many performance upgrades for the lq1 but the l67 on the other hand has pages and pages... I also want to make the car unique as far as body, suspension, motor ect and i havent seen very many 94s with an l67. Also what did you mean by there is no aftermarket

I know its been done before by a bunch of people or w/e. Still its not very common. plus it think it would be funny to race someone in a newer gtp or regal who knows enough about grand prixs to know that my car has an lq1, and then have them trip out when i beat them in a race

You can do that(to an extent) with the LQ1 too!

here is a list of things ive heard i can do to the lq1; cool air intake, underdrive pulley, exhaust, solid or stiffer dogbones, new ignition module (which ive heard is useless), and crank scraper. Ive also heard that i can have the computer reprogrammed. I have the exhaust, intake, and dogbone, and i really didnt notice that much of a difference. I know i still cant beat an l67. IDEAS?

My LQ1 walks the shit out of stock and slightly modded L67's. It's downright embarrasing for them at highway speeds.

I'd convert to OBD-II for tuning ability. Do the UDP, do the 96+ intake swap and search 60º to see what timing adjustments are available to you. If you want to spend the money on an L67/4T65E-HD, why not look into turbocharging the LQ1? There are tons of possibilities in that department. Come to the IRC room one day and chat with us. Preferably when Sean and Matt are there too.

That would be a shitload more fun with a boosted LQ1.

I definately agree with you about that. but ive heard its a total pain in the ass plus a shit ton of money to turbo my car, although i have really thought about it. By the way i am sitting next to shocktherapy and he has been telling me about all this.

Keep the LQ1. With the money you would be paying to swap the l67 and to purchase it you could've built yourself a very nice LQ1 that could walk a stock or slightly modded l67 and still sound good, IMO l67s sound bad enought to where i wouldn't get one. I remember a guy named Kevwood over at 60degreev6.com that had his LQ1 built and it made something like 240 wheel i want to say? I believe that was on stock intake manifolds and with minor tuning.

Bottom line, the LQ1 may be a pain in the ass some times, but it is an awesome motor IMO and i think you should keep it.

lol... i was UNDER timmys big.. the assumption that it would be more to turbo the LQ1 than drop in the L67

I know it would be a lot and possible more than dropping in an L67 but i was saying that a turbo isn't your only option...

OBD II is the computer that GM cars used from 95+ on i believe (94 was 1.5 i think). It is easier to tune with. I thought I read somewhere where it said someone used 2 front manifolds for their turbo setup(60* V6.com maybe???). timg turbo'd his Monte Z34, he has a cardomain, and i think DOHC is working on one.

yes, tim (timg) and shane (redzmonte) both used flipped front manis on the back and ran identical setups except for the piping. of course, you cant do the same thing w/ the manis on the 96-97 motors. tim is talking about running a T76 now

OBD 1.5 is in the 95s as well.... trust me, I'm stuck with it... for now

I'd still rather do the L67 swap than a turbo LQ1... but I hate the LQ1, I hate working on it, I hate paying to have it worked on.
