OldSkoolGP Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Has anyone ever seen if the Gen 2 caliper brackets will bolt onto a Gen 1.5 (95-99) strut housing? I need to know if the spacing is the same for a brake upgrade for my GP. Quote
GutlessSupreme Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 gen 1.5 has the same calipers as gen 1, for fronts anyway, and of course gen 2s don't fit gen 1s. Quote
OldSkoolGP Posted April 10, 2007 Author Report Posted April 10, 2007 The calipers I'm not concerned with. I just need to know if the bracket for Gen 2 has the same spacing for the housing bolts as a Gen 1.5 Quote
OldSkoolGP Posted April 11, 2007 Author Report Posted April 11, 2007 I managed to find a Gen 2 caliper brakcet today and compared it to the Gen 1.5 strut housing. Not even close, the Gen 1.5 bracket holes are are 3/4 inch farther out on each sdie. Has anyone ever tried to put larger brakes on a Gen 1.5? Is thare any bigger caliper bracket that may work? Quote
RJansen658 Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I seem to recall a topic a few months back, about someone doing the same thing, and using J body brackets, but it also required longer wheel studs and a spacer behind the rotor... Perhaps instead of going for bigger rotors, maybe look for a strong caliper? Quote
