ShockTherapy
94 grand prix gtp with the lq1 motor. with a cool air intake and an exhaust... the car keeps bogging out from start till after about 3000 rpm. When it finally shifts into second it bogs out worse until the rpms become higher again. sometimes when i drive the car normal it runs soo slow because of the mysterious bogging that i have to punch it just to get to the speed limit... n e body have n e ideas? Crimson Fury Z
how does it run up to 3krpm, smooth or rough?
ShockTherapy
It runs smooth... if by smooth you mean no vibrations or anything of that sort. It isnt missing or anything its almost as if its not getting enough gas or power or something. but if i put the pedal more than half way down it jumps back up and goes fine. Its weird because it only occurs sometimes about 1 in 5 takeoffs
bigdman
weird, my car is doing the exact same thing except its till 3500 rpms. 93 lq1
ShockTherapy
Well i wasnt exactly sure till what rpm it does it ... i never really pay that much attention.. it pisses me off so bad that i end up just romping on it till it goes away. mine might do it till 3500 too ill have to pay attention and find. Will post tomorrow... I also noticed that when i shut my car it makes a hissing noise from under the hood for a while. I have yet to locate the source
jeremy
is it getting enough fuel?
bigdman
I think its getting enough fuel, I just repaced the pump and the filter. before that she wouldn't even move but it still has no power till after 3500 rpms. I wonder if the fuel pressure regulator has something to do with it? by the way along with this no power symptom I also have a tick maybe a lifter. 19Cutlass94
Well measure the fuel pressure and make sure youve got the right pressure.
bigdman
what should I be looking for 40-60 psi?
Mach 5
If your hearing a hiss, could it be a vacuum line of some sort? Maybe the one that goes to the fuel regulator.

GtipGary
YES shocktherapy did sell his grand prix... and now has the little shit box scion... he sais it relates to him sooo ugly that it is kind of cute... but ne way i now have his car and am having trouble with it... not sure how i can check the fuel pressure? STRANGE mine makes that ticking noise too, i thought maybe one of my valves was sticking... and i think that the hissing noise is coming from the coolant line... the one that goes up by the top of the firewall, driverside, near the aux battery post
GtipGary
and no it is throwing no codes
bigdman
for awhile I was hearing a hissing sound also when I shut the car off. turned out to be a vaccum line going the the vaccum ball in the drivers side fender. corrosion from the old battery had eaten a chunk of the plastic line. I replaced the line with a rubber hose and the noise is gone!
