Brian P Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 I get engine/ ignition noise coming thru my FM signal on my Kenwood. I DON'T hear it on CD, Sirius, or when there's no sound (flipping thru FM channels) What can I do to eliminate this? Quote
stevegasm Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 have you tried unplugging the antenna to see if there's any noise? (other than static) It could be bad insulation on the antenna wire. Quote

Brian P Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 hmm so the antenna is NOT supposed to ground to the body? I'll have to check into this. Quote

No, it shouldn't be grounding to the body, because all your other electronics are grounding to the same thing and your tuner is now part of a "ground loop" Quote
Brian P Posted March 29, 2007 Author Report Posted March 29, 2007 something must be up. This morning I grabbed the antenna and let it move around on its rubber base, and it felt like it was rubbing on the metal body perhaps. Then the interference got worse, to the point I just listened to satellite radio on the way to work (ugh). Gonna take it apart asap I'll let y'all know. Quote
R Dubya Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 if you find a solution please post any relevant info, I can hear my turbo spool through my stock stereo and I cannot for the life of me find the problem, but when I use an aftermarket deck everything works as it should. I think I may have a bad stereo but want to be sure, I don't want to replace the unit for nostalgia reasons. Thanks! Quote
GutlassSupreme Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 do you have a sub hooked up or a namp. Is it a winding noise whe nyou hit the gas the frequency increases? If so its a bad Amp Ground. happens when whe n it isnt grounded. Had that issue on my Cutlass, then just grounded it somewhere else. Quote
R Dubya Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 all stock for me. I think the stereo is just at the end of its useful life, but IDK for sure. Quote
