GOT2B GM
So I figure the "A" shift solenoid is sticking. I still have TCC lockup in 3rd. It won't manually downshift to first either. I'm gonna take it in and have it put on the computer at the trans shop tomorrow. WTF. If I had the time I have a complete 284 setup, but I need my car for work everyday. Any input on the trans problem?
Q-Ball
What car is this on?
Crazy K
I seem to have erratic shift failures on my 95..... solved each time by cyling the ignition. inspect and dielectric grease the tranny plug and see if it makes a difference. Euro
I'm guessing its his Z34
GOT2B GM
I'm guessing its his Z34 Correct Its at the transmission shop now, could be a VSS, VSS harness, or shift solenoid. Fuck it, I don't have the time or patience right now, so they can fix it. Now I have to find a way to work tomorrow.......
joey b
my sis's 96 had the same problem. For some reason there was no signal for 1st or 4th gear from the ECU. The wires were damaged.
GOT2B GM
the trans mechanic mentioned that also.
GOT2B GM
They replaced the VSS and it didn't fix it.............
Brian P
WTF the VSS??!?! They had it apart and were 1 solenoid off!! Aw man I'd be livid.
Brian P
^ Especially since you HAD lockup in 3rd too....
Crazy K
^ Especially since you HAD lockup in 3rd too.... wouldn't it be the case that if you had ANY shifting at all that the VSS would be fine???????
GOT2B GM
Well, today they investigated further and discovered the harness going to the VSS was damaged, causing the ECM to enable a "limp mode". I don't exactly know how it all works, but it's fixed now.
Brian P
ahhhh right, I thought limp mode was 2nd gear only. I double checked my book and it's 2nd and 3rd. Wish I saw that earlier. ^ Especially since you HAD lockup in 3rd too.... wouldn't it be the case that if you had ANY shifting at all that the VSS would be fine??????? wow I just realized I mixed up VSS with TCC. LOL. Ok bedtime....
