I put a 96 LQ1 into my 94 GTP, but I have ODB 1.5 I believe.

Using the old style top end (UIM, LIM, and TB)will make the swap easier. We had to weld my EGR in place and block up the AIR tubes in the 96 exhaust manifold. I picked up a doughnut gasket from NAPA to make the fit from the 96 EM to the 94 exhaust. Been a couple years but if you have questions ask me and I should be able to help you with most of it.

This is the exact set up I have in my 92 Z and you will fight Alt problems as I currently am, see my "sonofabitch" thread. Mine remains OBD1, old style top end, had to have a custom made flange for the head pipe to rear exh manifold, and several other wiring mods. The crank and cam sensors are there, just not plugged in to anything. The 92 style alt will not mount up on the 97 block. Better to find the first gen LQ1 for ease of instl.... Just my opinion.

remove sensors from old motor or buy new and place in corresponding location of 97 motor. You will need the exhaust manifolds. You can use either top end, but you will need the throttle cable and MAP sensor from the 97. For the alternator you can splice the wire ends that you currently have (OBD I) into the wire connector for the OBDIII and you will not have any problems.
