servoalt Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Hey guys, Why does this website say the intrax kit lowers both front and rear? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=INT%2D25%2D1%2D024&view=32&N=700+ Are they now selling a kit with lowering springs in front and coilover-type springs for the rear, or is summit lying? I'm looking for my 95 CS SL. Quote
Psych0matt Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 im guessing that those are for the gen 1.5 lumina and montes, so the fronts would work, but not the rears Quote
Euro Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 would the fronts and rears be the same? or are there differences? Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 The fronts will work. The rears wont for this difference, we dont have rear springs..................... Quote
Euro Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 well yeah, but I was askin' are all 4 the same spring? Or are the fronts/rears different from each other Quote
servoalt Posted March 20, 2007 Author Report Posted March 20, 2007 excuse me for being a retard, but did the 95 monte have a different rear suspension setup than the cutlass? this says it works but i dont know where the hell id mount coil springs on the back of my car haha... did the later w's have rear coil-overs? how hard would these be to adapt to my car (if they exist)? I mean, can i get this kit and some parts from a junkyard and be all set to go? my car sits waaaay too high as you can see Quote
Euro Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 yeah. the 95-99 Monte Carlo/Lumina sat on a different rear suspension. They didn't have the monoleaf like you do. You'd have to pull the monoleaf, swap in the rear suspension from a 1.5 gen monte/lumina and go from there. Quote
Psych0matt Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 so would there be any real downside to getting a 1.5 suspension in back, because then you could just get lowering springs for the rear, right? or is there something I'm missing? Quote
pwmin Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 just get coilovers instead of swapping to gen 1.5...not worth it IMO. the downside is if you get the eibachs for a 1.5, the front sits lower than the rear and looks weird, at least every one ive seen. Quote
Psych0matt Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 well I lost track of that rear coilover thread and where it was going, so I wasn't sure if those would be an option down the road, so I figured this might be an acceptable substitute at some point if need be Quote
pwmin Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 do the coilovers. i just bumped it last week i think. Quote
Psych0matt Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 hmm, nothing ni them looks to definitive, but it looks like I can do it cheaper if I get things seperately. I have the front springs, and plan on ordering some KYB's at all 4 corners here soon, so I have to figure out what to do in the rear :-? Quote

97loudcut Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Dude, seriously how many times is this question going to be asked. You guys want to lower your cars and you don't even know the general make-up of the rear suspension!? Sorry to sound like an ass, but damn already. I must have seen Jay saying this 3 to 4 times already to different people. The fronts will work. The rears wont for this difference, we dont have rear springs..................... Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 read this one: http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,55194.0.html That one is good, and so is this: It even has part numbers!!!1111BBQ http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,51716.0.html People here just need to take the time and research this stuff instead of complaining about it. 99% of the parts are from AFCO Racing. And when you build your own, youll pretty much have a choice in what you want in spring rates and a couple other areas. Quote
