firefighter_0029
I have a Question About my 95 Monte Z34. I use it as a Winter Beater and for the last couple months I really haven't had time to work on it, but now it's getting really Shitty Gas Mileage (About 12 MPG) I wanted to give it a good tune up so I got a Fuel Filter, PCV Valve, Changed the Oil and put an Air Filter on. Now I got to the Plugs and wires and I pulled a plug and It's completely covered in Oil !! At least I found my problem, but now since I pretty much no nothing about a DOHC motor and will never buy another one I'm not sure how to fix it. I belive it's the Spark plug tubes that are leaking. Am I right? Now here's the questions. How do you change them? And Where do they go? Do you have to change the whole Valve cover gasket or can you just pull out the tube? The reason I ask is because if it's more than a couple hour job the Car's going Bye-Bye.
RJansen658
It more than likely isnt the tube themselves leaking. The valve cover has a gasket around each tube, and they go bad a lot. You do have to take off the valve cover to change them tho. You should be able to knock it out in about two hours tho.
z34Phoenix
dont forget you need to remove the upper intake manifold... for the adverage newb we quote 2 hours for this... so just estimate 2 hours plus min pulling the valve covers. 5speedz34
For the rears you'll have to pull the plenum. Really an easy job, other than some of the shit that runs to the plenum. For the fronts they should take you 20 minutes. A valve cover set should be about $25 bucks.
firefighter_0029
When I had my 96 it was pertty easy but the intake comes off differently right?
5speedz34
When I had my 96 it was pertty easy but the intake comes off differently right? Yeah, the 95's suck IMO. They aren't made to come off as easily since you don't do the plugs with it off.
firefighter_0029
Anybody got the firing order on the Coil Packs? I got it all back together but I sounds like it's missing.

Now there is water blowing out of the Vacuum Line that goes to the Brake Booster. WTF!!

5speedz34
I don't know? How the hell can this happen? I don't know?! I mean I would see if you can drive the water out, if that makes sense. I mean you just pulled the intakes off and did the oil seals, right?
firefighter_0029
I got the water leak fixed. It was a heater hose leaking beside the brake booster hose not the brake booster itself. Here's the real problem..... I put new plugs and wires in it. The #2 plug isn't firing but all the others fire perfect. I put the old wire and plug back on that cylinder and the same thing happens. It fires outside the hole by grounding it on the manifold but it won't fire in the hole??? What could cause this?
Andrew
probably a coil pack. mark the one that isnt firing and then switch it with another coil. if the issue follows the coil, then its the coil. BTW how do you know its #2?
firefighter_0029
I unplug the #2 Plug and it makes no difference. When I unplug the rest of them one at a time it lags the motor. Also the plug is wet. Can just half a Coil be bad? I've never seen it thats why I'm asking. Usually when a Coil is bad there will be 2 plugs not firing. So if #2 isn't firing #5 shouldn't be either. 5speedz34
Sure, I guess so. It's super easy to change coils on that so why not?!
firefighter_0029
Yeah real easy. All you have to do is stand on your head.

firefighter_0029
It was kinda hard just to get the plug wires underneath where they go. All the A/C Lines are in the way and there is a shield under the bumper cover so it's hard to get them from the bottom too. I still don't see that half a Coil can be bad?? 5speedz34
Shit I thought this was a 96 that you had.
firefighter_0029
I had a 96 and got rid of it. Now all I Have is the 95. I found the problem after about 3 days of swapping out parts. The fuel injector wasn't working it was just leaking. I tore the Intake back off and had all the Injectors rebuilt and pressure checked. Runs like a Raped Ape Now. Finally got it Shined up a bit too.
