gmrulz4u Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 On the 2.8L and 3.1L engines, which fuel system components have a vacuum line connected to them? The reason I ask is this: I have known for a few months now that my 89 Cutlass is running rich. It runs richest at idle, but even MORE so upon closing the throttle while cruising. For the longest time I kept wondering WHY this was the case!? But today I just realized that the reason is because the engine is developing the MOST vacuum when decelerating, even more than when idling. So, I figure the engine must be DRAWING-IN fuel from somewhere via a vacuum line connection. I know the following are possible culprits, but seeing if there are any that i am missing: - PCV Valve(replaced last week with a brand-new one) - Fuel Pressure Regulator - EVAP/Charcoal Canister(purge solenoid) Again, anything I'm forgetting?? THANKS A TON! Quote
Robby1870 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 The MAP sensor, which helps control fuel delivery, has a vacuum line to it. I think that one, plus the ones you mentioned is all Robby Quote
Baddflash Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 I think more likely o/2 sensor, injectors,MAP and a couple other things I can't think of right now. How do you know it is running rich? Smell of gas, sputtering, guage??? What kind of miles?? Recent maintenance plugs, wires, air filter, etc... I would need to know more to really say. Quote
