KrazyCutlass1995 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 i recently noticed that if i hit 3k rpm and back off while idle i get a back fire sound out of the exhuast , and if i try to go over 4 k it skips like holy hell and shoots water out of the exhuast .... hmmm bad gas??? not sure Quote
gimp19 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I'm not sure if water coming out of the exaust is a problem, I notice alot of cars new and old that leak water from the exaust. The back fire is not normal though it good be anything from bad gas, a sensor, or part of the ignition system. Quote
KrazyCutlass1995 Posted June 13, 2003 Author Report Posted June 13, 2003 thanks , i just went put some 93 octane in there this morning , hopfully that will help ... if not ill start to check those things out ... thanks alot bro Quote
Karmesinrot Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I do believe that water vapor actually a product of combustion, so at least that part of it is normal. Quote
Redfox340 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 I do believe that water vapor actually a product of combustion, so at least that part of it is normal. That's correct... cold exhaust pipes with warm water vapor condenses the vapor into a liquid. Basic combustion fomula (unbalanced): [ CH4 + O2 ---> H2O + CO2 ] Nothing to worry about! It's all basic chemistry. - RedFox340 Quote
grandprix104 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Probably not the gas I use the ultra-premium always and my car still does the exact same thing your describing. Tell me though. When youre car has been stopped at a light or idling for a while does the RPMs start to drop slightly in a rythmic pattern? My car also does that and i was wondering if yours does it too maybe its a connected problem Quote

grandprix104 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 i'm hoping that isnt what mine is. i hope it is just a sensor or blocked cat Quote
gimp19 Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Probably not the gas I use the ultra-premium always and my car still does the exact same thing your describing. If he's gone though a least one tank of gas and still has the problem then your right, but somtimes there are bad batches. My moms spark plugs got messed up by bad gas. Quote
