PCGUY112887
Coming from the left front, when I turn a hard turn sometimes I hear/feel a pop/groan coming from right around the tire. When I jack up the car, the tire has no play if I push on the tire from the top and bottom (pushing on the sidewall not actually up to the fender and down to the road) but if I push on the left and right of the tire again on the sidewalls, it moves some and kinda squeaks/groans. What is going bad and does anyone have a picture of what I need to replace?
PCGUY112887
Anyone? I know many of you know what it is, I just can't find jack via the search.
BXX
I think your ball joint is actually popping out of the socket some... Check that out..
jdcutty
If you have play when you wiggle from the top/bottom of the tire, then it's your ball joint. If you have play when you wiggle from the left/right of the tire, then it's your tie rod. If you have all around play, the it is your wheel bearing. Also the clunking you hear could be a bad axle. But i would check the above three, as they are cheaper and easier fixes.
FordBoy
I think that the axles give more of a clicking then a clunk but it could be different on other cars then what ive worked on
PCGUY112887
So when people say they did their tie rod on here, do they replace the whole rod or what? Anyone have a picture?

NO you buy a tie rod end. the actual rod is threaded and and the end screws onto it. And if you replace it, dont forget to have an alignment done. There is one way to do it I guess to get it real close without having an alignment done. When you take the bad one off, count the number of turns it takes to get it off. Then when you put the new one on, turn it the same amount of times. That will put it in roughly the same position as the old one.
