servoalt
Hey does anyone here know of any websites that show what the codes mean on the ID plate of a 4t60e trans? I have a blown trans in my '95 CS and now I have a '96 CS trans that i might swap in, if it will work that is. I'd like to know where I can go to find out if it will work because they don't look identical. Does anyone have a hollander? Thanks

5speedz34
I'm going to say its not going to work because of '96 being OBD II.
3WH12-96
i do agree with ya but im gonna ask ne way
Crazy K
the tranny doesn't care whether the car is obdII or not... especially a 96 adapted to run on a 95. I'm sure it can be done, although the connector might need repinning. iirc at some point the trannys started recieving Pule Width Modulation, and you can get buy with not hooking the wire up... But I think Brian P might have the best answer on this.
Brian P
it's the same tranny. You will need to transfer the '95 park/neutral/gear switch (on top) onto the new 96 tranny. What do you visually see different about it?
19Cutlass94
There shouldnt be anything difference about the tranny except for many a sensor/switch or something of that nature. They are the same tranny like said above so there shouldnt be anything different.
servoalt
Yeah, the trans selector seems different to me. I'm not sure yet what else is different. This is the 1995 trans inside the car still. This is the 1996 trans with a big connector and lots of wires, but no lever. Maybe the lever was removed? Brian P
yeah lever was removed. Just transfer that switch, line it up as best as you can (might have to adjust it once everything is installed and running) and use your lever.
servoalt
Are there any other different sensors on the transmission? Other than the park/neutral switch, will the trans swap right in?
Brian P
that's all. I'm running a '96 tranny in my '95. No other differences.
