fleetwoodguy79 Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Hello everyone, I'm getting that DOHC from travis here on the forums, and I work at a shop now so me and a buddy are gonna start our DOHC project for this summer. He wants me to go ahead and get parts, and he knows what he is doing/talking about, so I have some questions for you guys! 1. Can you bore out the cylinders on the 3.4 increasing performance, or will that affect engine balance? 2. Can I get oversized pistons if I bore it out or can I get forged pistons? 3. Are there any performance cams available? 4. ANY way you guys can think of boosting the power WITHOUT using any turbos or superchargers... We hope to have THE fastest N/A 3.4 DOHC motor this summer! Hoping to give you 3.8 s/c swappers a run for your money :-) please let me know what you guys think! Thanks a lot! I will be posting pics of this project as soon as i get started and get the website up... Quote
brian89gp Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 1. yes, and i don't see how it could affect engine balance unless you only bore 2 or the 6 cylinders out 2. yes, there are stock replacement hypertunatic (sp?) available, forged or any other design from stock would have to be custom 3. no and i woulnd't count on it. 4. can be done, very easily if you up the rpm's to 7000+, but I am not the person to be talking to about a NA setup. Mike J. Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 How about a shot of NOS. I was reading that there might be a 6 speed trans. that can work, over on the clubgp msg board. You're going to need larger tires/wheels. Quote
brian89gp Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Larger wheels will slow you down though. Quote
Robby1870 Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 yeah larger wheels and tires arent needed. Port/polish the heads and intakes as much as possible, and long with boring the block. That and a bigger TB is really all you can do if you want an n/a DOHC Robby Quote
