Tire Size

I'm wanting to go ahead and get new tires so I can get my new wheels on sometime in march. I'm wondering what the best size tire would be. The wheels are 17x7. would a 225/60/17 work?

would it be better to go with a 225/55/17 or a 245/45/17. I'm not really too concerned about the speedo being off, I'm more worried about the tires rubbing or hitting something

the wider tire you have the more likely you are to rub. however i think you are safe to run a 245 wide tire. 245/50 would be optimal to keep the speedo on, but the selection of tires in that size is super small, which is always something to consider. so i would get 245/45, the selection is much better. your speedo will be off a bit though. when your speedo reads 60, you'll really be going 58.

I went with 245/45/17, I used that calculator earlier, It wont really bother me the speedo being off by 2-3mph, I'm usually a little over anyway. New rubber should be here in the middle of the week. Now I have to get ahold of a powdercoater. I should have them on the car before spring break (middle of March) :burnout:

I know slick ran that size on his Z and never had a problem.....and before Slick got them they were on a 94-96 GTP w/o problems too

The only problem with 245/45/17s is that they need to be on a wheel 7.5"-9" wide....you said you had 7" wide.

good point, I didn't even catch that part of his post...
