digitaloutsider
No.. it means something is making it go into that mode. It's overheating or shorting out.

slick
Few things u can check: gains on ur amp, make sure no wires are crossed, make sure your sub is still good, and check your ground. Most of the time i see improperly set gains or the subs wired wrong or are blown.

19Cutlass94
Doesnt matter what amp it is. Do you have a DMM? If so, get it out and start measuring voltage and ohms.
blkinternational
well i tested everything its gettin 12 volts and everything i got a ground block and i still cant figure out and btw the amp is..a power acoustik LT1440/
slick
Measure the ohms your getting off of your subs.
GnatGoSplat
If it still does it with all the speakers disconnected, one of the output transistors is probably shorted.

You dont need to disconnect the speakers/subs to test the ohms. Just make sure you have the power off. That and youve got the polarity correct

That and youve got the polarity correct If it still goes into protection mode with no speakers hooked up, no reason to bother checking the ohms, the output transistors are shorted. That'd be my first instinct based on "Power Acoustik".
