Poor throttle response when wheels are turned??

Recommended Posts

I've already verified it is NOT tranny related at all, so what else

could it be??

The problem is if I start to try and accelerate when the wheels are

turned, it hardly responds at all, until I straighten the steering,

then all is well.

It does seem like the more the wheel is turned, the worse-off it is.

I have the following in mind:

- IAC

- Power Steering Pressure Switch

- MAP Sensor

- Vacuum Leak

Anyone with anything to add?

THANKS!:)

This might be related to what you are having problem with right now.

I used to have a problem with my steering where if I turn the wheels in either direction to pull out or back out from parking then my engine would hesitate and sometimes dies.

What I have done is use a vacuum pump to suck out the old the power steering fluid to the lowest level (not empty) and then put a new supply of powering steering fluid. That solves my steering/engine problem when trying to accelerate either forwards or backwards when wheels are turned in either direction.

i get the same thing with my car too. usually i dont have to straighten out the wheels though, it just takes a second for the tranny to engage when i step on the gas when half way through a turn

however, one day when i was coming up on an advancing green rather fast cause i knew it was almost over and wanted to get through. and when stepping on the gas coming out of the turn it didnt want to step into gear and the rpms shot way up! that time it wouldnt correct itself until i straightened the car out. it seems the faster i take a turn, the more it wants to do it. unfortunately, i'm not sure why that makes a difference but if u get it fixed, lemme know. i'd be interested in taking care of this problem too

I've seen that same thing too after making hard turn sometimes tranny is caught out of gear or something. I think it has to do with the force trowing the tranny fluid around and it sucking up some air causing it to act as such. My car has only done this after making a hard corner fast, otherwise it's fine no hesitation in parking lot etc, has nothing to do with steering input on my car.

well, i'm thinking vacuum modulator after a little bit of research. it seems that it would cause the same problems i'm were having if it were not functioning properly.

apparently it helps the vehicle respond to different engine loading which would explain the turning thing.

anyways, gonna check it out. let you guys know how it goes
