I know Tom installed a Walbro into his Lumina. Does anyone know if this kit (GM universal Walbro 255) will do the trick for a lumina? I want to be able to do this on a weekend.

Secondly, can you access the top of the tank by removing the rear seat? I'm tired of having to drop the tank to access the pump or float.

I removed the stock Lumina pump and put in the GTP pump motor, but had to rig the pick-up hose due to the differences between the pumps in pick-up. I think the hose I put on has come off, as I can only get 13 of the 16 gallons out... starts sputtering...lol And rather than dicking around with it anymore, I'd rather put in a new pump that will alleviate my troubles and also have leeway for future engine mods.

Any ideas?

changing fuel pumps sux!! stupid me broke my sending unit in the process and i *finally* found a replacement so i get to do the job all over again. oh boy! can't wait! unfortunately you can't access the fuel pump from under the rear seat; it sure would be nice if you could. i think you can on GEN II W-bodies tho. definately go with that Walbro 255 tho, that's what i'm doing since i'm installing a TGP engine this summer. for now i have a TGP/L98 spec pump installed and it went right in with no problems (other than the dam sender assembly). the pickup on the new pump was a little different, but i just turned it a little and it fit right in.

next time i'm going to run the car completly out of gas before i change the pump out. last time i couldn't cuz the pump just happened to die with a full tank of gas.

It will fit without a problem. Amazingly it was quieter then my stock pump as well.
