3pt1lumina

Recommended Posts

The car in question is a 96 Lumina 3100/4T60-E with 70k. While reading this, keep in mind the tranny fluid is full and clean. It does not smell burnt, it's not losing any, and was changed approx. 2k ago. I also have no additives in the transmission like Lucas or anything like that.

Okay, the 1-2 shift seems sloppy, almost as if it's slipping. (felt this about 3 weeks, decided to change the tranny fluid to see if it goes away, and it's still the same.) Now today, the shift into overdrive is not even happening unless I really get on it. Then it downshifts then shifts like normal. I think the car may be running 200 rpm's higher than normal, but traffic was too hard to watch it that closely. If I drive it gentle, all the shifting seems fine, except for that downshift into overdrive; even the 1-2 shift seems better.

Also, one other thing I noticed, between 75-80mph the car feels like it is "bucking" and like it has no power. I don't have any SES and the engine is perfect operating order; no misfires, etc.

Any ideas, suggestions, etc etc? I don't want to do any damage to a car with only 70k on it. Thanks all

I would probly say find one of those Tranny shops that offer free inspect and check up. Make sure they use their scanner since you do have the OBD2 car. See what is going on that way...

agreed ...there may be a code stored even without the ses (mil) lit....shift solenoids hung up scored stuck 1-2 accumulator valve and the list goes on and on.. pull codes b4 u do any thing else just please stay away from places like autozone to get your scan go to a dealer or a reputable independent shop and b4 you autozone guys jump my shit...im so tired of these people coming in wanting parts for their cars cause autozone "scanned" it and they said they said i need an 02 sensor ....then when that 02 did not fix it BECAUSE the code read high H02 and needs a CAT im not taking your $200 sensor back but i will sell you a cat though lol

I'm an AutoZone guy, and I tell people what code I pull isn;t your problem, go to a dealer or good shop... Im sick of my dumb ass co workers selling parts that aren't the problem and I have to return a fuckin $150 EGR or like you said, a $200 O2

But yeah, shift solenoids seem the culprit, or the tranny just has burned clutchs/bands...
