jeremy
if you are looking to do it on the cheap, just pull off a dual setup that is in good shape from a j/y....and then cut the 2nd outlet out of your bumper, unless you can find a dual one from the factory in your color
Crazy K
if you are looking to do it on the cheap, just pull off a dual setup that is in good shape from a j/y....and then cut the 2nd outlet out of your bumper, unless you can find a dual one from the factory in your color ditto I have come to the conclusion that the dual outlets are factory cutouts of a single outlet bumper. hence... if your have opposable thumbs you can cut out your own! no pics... but you can stick a 3.4 or 3.1 duals onto the car, splicing in after the cat. I did it on my lumina with a Z-34 duals, and I will be doing this soon two at lest two of my cars using duals from two 3.4 CS's onto my own CS's. lots of luck! Dirty Rockstar
Ummm.. Cutty sedans (Like ours) dont require cutouts in the bumper....... Look at Nebojsa's sedan with the duals he added: (Best pic I could find) No cutting required at all.. Just the coupes
Crazy K
Ken Knows that. he has a 3.4 sedan. I was thinking about a coupe, cause of what jeremy wrote. I still need to compare the 3.4 sedan vs 3.4 coupe system and see if the tailpipes are identical...
rockfangd
yay i figured i wouldnt have to cut anything. But will i gain anything from this besides the fact i love dual exhaust. Will i have the clearance underneath the car? what do i mount the exhaust to? I dont even have any mounts on my current one lol

Will i have the clearance underneath the car? what do i mount the exhaust to? I dont even have any mounts on my current one lol try to grab the mounts that hold whatever duals you find on the car! The duals allow the car to breathe more. Ass-dyno says better high end? I'd say a quieter idle but a nice roar at higher RPMs! you might loose a little clearance, but I would do it. nebojsa_o
My ass dyno didn't tell me much, but I noticed a touch lower RPM's at highway speeds... The car sounds pretty nice with the dual setup on there, and really screams when you get on it, I love it. I got all the mounts from the coupe I got the exhaust from, and if you take it off yourself, you'll see exactly where, and how they mount. I cleaned mine up, and painted them flat black with some high temperature paint, but that didn't seem to work out, or they were too far gone. It was supposed to be a temporary fix up over a year ago, and now they look dirty/rusty but still nice... I think it was worth doing. rockfangd
i really liked the one on my 92 GP with the cast pipes with the 3.4 dohc. I really kicked myself in the ass when i sold that one
rockfangd
so just out of curiosity it runs single through the cat and then converts to the dual pipe after the cat.
Crazy K
so just out of curiosity it runs single through the cat and then converts to the dual pipe after the cat. is this the first time you've heard? the split (the Y pipe) is right behind the rear axle assembly. splice it right behind the cat if you have the chance, if you find a 3.4 system. the 3.4 pipe diameter is 2.25" vs. 2"
rockfangd
well i have never done this mod and i am quite curious about what i am going to get myself into lol. thats why i wanted to see a pic of the mod. I wasnt sure right where the Y starts
LuminaPower92
I saw the dual set up on the cutty while i was working at a olds dealer, thats before i got my Z. My dark blue euro 3.1 I put the same set up as the factory Z34 exhaust single ito duals and works great. Got magnaflow high flow cat with 2 flowmasters. I love it. Dont know what to go with with my Z though.....
FordBoy
well i have never done this mod and i am quite curious about what i am going to get myself into lol. thats why i wanted to see a pic of the mod. I wasnt sure right where the Y starts there ya go not the best drawing but better then nothing. where it bends out to the side if your making it custom like me do to 45* angles so its not as restricked a 90* u will loose alot of power
rockfangd
thats cool i was just worried about it going near the rear axle and the spare tire comp. [attachment deleted by admin] Removed to free up storage space.
Dirty Rockstar
FordBoy, is that your redition of a stock bend or a custom idea you have? Just in case, here is the stock exhaust routing. Not the best, but my setup is at my dad's shop: Also of not, later models (When the 3100 came along I assume) got a resonator on the PASSENGER side before hitting the muffler.. I am doing this from memory and in MSPaint, so some details may be of a touch..
FordBoy
Ya its custom if its a 45* bend it is less restrictive
