Robby1870
Might be better of posting in the general section instead of the sale section.

JakeMetz63
Take a 100watt lightbulb, screw said lightbulb into a light socket, take said lightsocket and hang it from your engine, and finially plug it in/turn it on. Cheaper and easier than an engine block heater, yet works just as well.

GP1138
Hey, I deleted the duplicate thread in the General section, as this is the correct section for this thread. Thanks.
rockfangd
does anyone know if there is a block heater available for my 3100
Marchi1
There used to be a heater that you could splice into your lower radiator hose, was the easiest way to do it. Basically you drain the coolant, cut the hos, place this piece in the splice, add a couple clamps, refill coolant, and walk away. Though I am most in favor of the lightbulb thing as it is easier, unless you live in an apartment like I do.
pwmin
the freeze plug type is the best but theyre a pia. i took the one that was in my gp out that someone put in. they like to leak. my gp has never had trouble starting w/ 10w30 oil even when it was 20 below. now, if you have a diesel, then they have some value. Psych0matt
my truck seems to turn over a bit slower and a couple more times than when its warm, but hasnt worried me at all
pwmin
pretty much, you drain the coolant, find the most accessable freeze plug, pull it out (not always the easiest thing to do), put some assembly goo on the heater plug, and pop it in. run the cord to somewhere up front, and thats about it (besides filling it back up). where do you live? 1990lumina
I find when using the block heater the car warms up considerably faster in the morning which is nice especially when you're in a hurry to go...
