Dirty Rockstar Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 How does one go about recovering their armrest? WHats the best procedure anyone here has found? Mine basically looks like a huge piece of shit, and I want to recover it before i install it in my car. Thanks! Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I carpetted mine. I love it that way, and think it looks better too, but that's just my opinion and I know probably everyone will disagree. Ill see if i can dig a pic if you want. All i did was find some spare carpet from a cutty at a yard, and cut it to fit. Quote
Crazy K Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I plan to re-upholster mine using actual leather taken from the seats of a junk car. Is my case I plan to remove all the thread from the armrest, over lay the armrest's vinyl over the salvaged leather and mark and punch all the holes in the same position.... then stitch it all back together by hand with upholstry thread. I figure that it would take 24 hours or staight work to do. future project! Quote
Dirty Rockstar Posted February 5, 2007 Author Report Posted February 5, 2007 I just want 2 things.. A) Not to look like ghetto ass (As it is presently) Not to e all fuckin scratchy when I put my arm on it. Id like to see a couple pics if possible Matt! Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Alright, Ill have to see if i can snap one or two, i cant seem to find one (thought I had one) it might be tomorrow since its dark and cold Quote
Dirty Rockstar Posted February 5, 2007 Author Report Posted February 5, 2007 Well, whilst waiting, can you explain a little bit what you did to get the thing done Matt? I am going to look at Kens way also, but I am just gonna use OE style vinyl.. Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 basically, I cut a piece of extra carpet that fits on the top, inside of the border, so the sides are still vinyl, and it has the border thing around the top edge, but is carpet on the whole top. nevermind that, I snapped a few. There is a part on the side that is starting to come apart, but that's because I always have my arm right there, and because i did this three years ago and havent spent the 5 seconds to put another drop of glue on Ill add links in a sec Quote
Crazy K Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I am going to look at Kens way also, but I am just gonna use OE style vinyl.. I'm going with OEM leather, as I hope it will not split, whihc is why the vinyl ones suck. I may experience stertching but hopefully no splitting. Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Not hateful Matt. Fix your seat. You know how much I'd absolutely love to? Quote
Crazy K Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Not hateful Matt. Fix your seat. You know how much I'd absolutely love to? Talk to me beotch!!! I can teach you to sew leather! been there, done that. Quote
Q-Ball Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I want your seatbelts...I'm gonna put in 1994 seatbelts. I did the same thing. Only paind was to change the actual seatbelt attatched to the door. It's much easier and looks a lot better too! // off topic done. Quote
Psych0matt Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I used to hate the newer looking seatbelts, but now I like them a lot better than others. mostly they just look better and seem to be a little more user friendly Quote

That was only a royal pain in the ass cause we couldn't get the window down on the donor car. You need to get the window down to be able to unbolt the seatbelt mount. And its your fault we couldn't get it down, cause you had taken the wiring out of the door already Jamie Quote
Bake82 Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Steve I have one I'd sell for $20 + Shipping if you want. Charcol. Quote
Dirty Rockstar Posted February 6, 2007 Author Report Posted February 6, 2007 Kyle, I appreciate the offer, but I just bought one, and I would rather just recover it for the 5 bucks I spent on it.. Oh, and for the record, I dont necessarily need to keep that round trim thing.. I like the look o the regal ones I believe as they look real smooth without that dumb trim.. Plus crap wont want to deposit there.. Quote
5speedz34 Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 I know I'm late into this thread but in the Cutlass parts I sold the Ken the previous owner recovered the armrest you could look into that. Quote
