RobertISaar
had to replace the alternator and battery in the monte...never again am i doing that. alternator had 150,000 miles and when i pulled it off it growled at me when i spun the pulley... must not have wanted to stay under the hood any longer, but at least i got the $50 core charge out of it and the new one cost $180 battery was 7 years old and now i got a duralast gold that puts out some 700CCA also replaced the serpintine belt who the hell came up with the idea to make cars that have about 1/64th of an inch of room to get a wrench behind the alternator? if i have anything else major to do on this thing its going to somebodys garage or its going to pull a houdini or i'm yanking the motor to make some kind of monster fuel injected quadracer... LT3100R . anyone else had the pain of replacing the alternator lately(and on the coldest day of the year)?

slick
Gotta be the 3.4. Did you follow my write-up on the alternator repair? It makes it a ton easier. BTW, I woulda went for something larger than 700CCA. In fact, always try to fit the largest that you can.

RobertISaar
which car/engine? 95 monte l82(3100) still took forever even though it sounds like the DOHC guys have it rougher than me
Psych0matt
which car/engine? 95 monte l82(3100) still took forever even though it sounds like the DOHC guys have it rougher than me youre kidding, right? the alternator on those is like eating cheesecake compared to anyone with an LQ1, which is more like chewing on metal shavings Ive actually never done mine before, but that's cuz i couldnt for the life of me break one of the subframe bolts loose. I found out the shop that I took it to dropped the rear or the subframe, not one side, so ill try that if/when i hopefully never have to try it
