ToroToro
If you feel up to pulling it off, that would be the best way. Otherwise just remove the intake tube, and hit it with some carb cleaner and a lint free towel. Manually open it to get the insides. After you do this it probobly wont want to start right away. You might have to give it some gas. But otherwise thats it. If you are gonna pull it, I would go ahead and get a 3400 TB for it. Direct swap and I'd say it's worth about 5 horses. Pull out and clean the IAC too before you put it on. They get really gummed up.
rockfangd
thats a great idea, what year 3400s would be compatible. i will get one, clean it, then swap it out for more horses

Psych0matt
spray carb cleaner into tb, easiest way.
ToroToro
Yeah like I said the easiest way would be to just pull off the rubber intake tube and spray 'n wipe. I certainly hope you can figure that out. Otherwise it's two bolts to remove the whole thing. On in front and one facing the rear under the TPS. I dont remember what all is in the way but it's still a simple job. I know the throttle cable bracket has to go. They just unclip from that. All years of 3400 will fit. rockfangd
would the whole thing be a direct swap?
chadz34
would the whole thing be a direct swap? Well, I'm sure a few things may need to be changed, other than that it's fairly direct. They are very very similar in design.
Crazy K
read the recent 3400 hybrid threads although the 3400 TB will bolt up to the 3100 intake, the hole is smaller and will create a lip that would probably cause more s\air turbulence than what the swap is worth. rockfangd
really. well before i o and buy one i want to be sure it is going to be worth my while
Crazy K
you coule enlarge the bore of the 3100's intake... but I would just clean it and resaerch swapping the intakes if you care to.

Nah, the opening on the intake plenum on the 3100 is smaller than the tb opening of the 3400. You had it backwards.
