GutlessSupreme
The 3.1 in my Cutlass used to stutter a bit under acceleration. I had a set of decent looking plug wires leftover from the TGP so I figured why not, I'll throw those on a give it a shot. At first, the car felt much better, butt dyno said it definetly a little quicker. I didn't notice any new stuttering. That was about two weeks ago. Since then, once the car's warmed up, it jumps around hardcore around 3k rpm. It's worse in that one spot than it used to be throughout the rpms. If I mash it to downshift, it's fine at say 4k+. Once I manage to get past like 3400 rpms or so it seems to start straightening out (if I don't let it downshift to first). coil packs were replaced about a year ago with an aftermarket brand because the stock ones did this except 10x at any rpm once the car was warmed up. I guess I'll try new plugs and if I feel like spending the money, a new set of wires. I guess it could be the ICM too (will the ICM/coilpacks from any newer cars work? in case I come across a used one cheap). my tranny has also begun slipping like crazy from a stop. perfect. anyone want to donate a 3400/4T60E? or have any input besides that? I also tried dumping a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through but I don't truely believe that stuff does much. Couldn't hurt to do my filter too I guess. Robby1870
Sounds like a spark problem to me. Try a new set of plugs and wires. Not 100% sure on which ICMs will work, but up through the 3100 should work.
no1kicker
I've got a spare set of coils/ICM that you can borrow if you want to give that a shot.
GutlessSupreme
I've got a spare set of coils/ICM that you can borrow if you want to give that a shot. I've got two. Guess where they came from I just gotta spend a few hours outside and troubleshoot. thanks though Greg. How's the GTP running?
no1kicker
Ok cool. I just remember chasing the no boost problem in the STE and it ended up being the coils. GTP runs, but half of an AC compressor bolt is stuck in the block right now. Working on getting it out, I have a hole drilled, and like you I just need to spend some time in the cold. GutlessSupreme
Just an update, I put in new plugs, wires, and the ICM/coils out of the STE. Still slow as fuck but it runs mint now.
