Drive belt tensioner assembly

I replaced this last night when I put on a new drive belt....it fell apart on me when I went to remove the tension from the old belt  I'm just glad that I caught it before it gave out while driving. The drive belt that was on the car was in good visual shape too, I just wanted to start replacing a few easy things as preventative measures. Half hour later, all was better :)

I should have taken a pic of the one from my Beretta, it came out in pieces. I had needed to replace the belt for several years.

The belt & tensioner are very easy to do with all that room under the hood of a W-body...the Beretta, not so much. Had about 1 inch of room to pull everything apart.

Jeremy-How many miles on the MC?

Dan, I don't know what it is but 3800's (at least the L67's) go through pullies left and right. My buddies replaced at least 3 on his.

I've only been through one set so far haha. Just the pullies on the s/c belt too haha.

My idler pulley squeaks, is that the tensioner or what? Probly a stupid question...

If you're idler squeaks its probably the idler itself. But I would just take the belt off and just spin each individual pulley.

Sure it is, after you remove the radiator overflow. :willynilly:

I feel for you, mine went out on the interstate headed home. Had to have it towed home.
