gmrulz4u
Is there a way to make it so that your alternator puts out more power/amperage at low RPMs/idle?? I don't really understand the whole "pulley" thing, and how this would help, if at all?? THANKS:o) http://www.worldzone.net/auto/olds/owners/brewer.html
Guest
I believe the "pulley thing" would in fact give you less alternator output and not more. The intention there is to put a smaller pulley on the engine - hence less net loss of h.p. due to accessory load. Smaller pulley = less drag. There is high output alts out there. Jeorge
put a berreta pully on the alt If I rememberisd a 1/4 inch smaller and would spin faster making more power
musthavemuzk
wouldn't it just make more power at idle? as the stator inside it will limit the amps it puts out. right? Monty
RedZMonte
its like gear ratios. if you go with a larger pully it will spin slower. if you go with a smaller pully it will spin faster. think of a wheel. a smaller wheel will have more rotations in any given distance then a larger wheel. so if you put a Under drive pully (smaller) on your alt it will cause it to spin faster even though the belt is still moving at the same speed. Hope that makes sense. RedZ
