gp90se
Is there a way to run a 3.4 and 4t60 so the lockup works?
Brian P
3.4 DOHC or OHV, and what ecm is running it? Also what year tranny?
gp90se
LQ1, higher compression but not much. Stock 92 ECU, 93 harness and Id like to use a 90 tranny
Brian P
well assuming you are going to make custom provisions for the TV cable, the torque converter clutch circuit is the same. You'll just have to connect the appropriate wires to the tranny plug. I don't know what codes you'll get when the PCM isn't able to control the shift solenoids that would be there on a 60-e. Maybe Ben can make you a chip to correct that.
Crazy K
anyone think he should do what I plan to do and just mate a normal 3.33fdr 4t60-e from a 3.1 car to his 3.4? right now it sounds like you are going to be using a 3.33 fdr ratio tranny from a non-elctronic trannycar, at least the 3.33 fdr electronic tranny would be mated properly and should not reguire custom modding to the pcm. where are you dude? I can direct you to a place that sells good trannies, and they probably have a proper 3.4 tranny right now!
GutlessSupreme
If my guess is correct then he's probably talking about using his/my former TGP tranny that he just reacquired from me, so I highly doubt he'd be looking to pick up another one. Jcrow
I would think if you used a '92 LQ1 chip it would be fine. The E-tranny didnt come out until '93 right?

The E-tranny didnt come out until '93 right? incorrect the e tranny did not come out until 93 for the 3.1 models. the 3.4 was hooked to the E tranny from day one. the E tranny had already been used in some cadillac models before 91. I forsee this being a disaster, Unless he can find someway to program the chip to not care about the tranny, like using a LQ1 MTX chip? What I was thinking about doing was using a 5 speed chip with the 4t60 and living without the lockup. It's looking more and more like I will be dropping my buicks 3.1 into the GP again and putting the 3.4 into storage until I can find something better to do with it. But, If there is a legit way I can use the TGP 4t60 with the 3.4, I might not swap out the lq1 for a 3.
