Control arm bushing replacement on Lumina

Has anybody done control arm bushing replacement on there Luminas? Looks straight forward and Napa even stocks them. Haynes manual said a "special tool" is needed. That tells me there is a way for me to do it, just thought I'd tap the experience here.

 

Also, are engine cradle bushings and washers a "dealer item only"?

I bent my control arms trying to get the new ones in. The "proper" special kent moore tool listed in the FSM goes for like a grand new. it's no picnic trying to do it by other means.

autozone has a loan-a tool ball joint press kit. I used that to do the busings on the control arm of an old buick.

 

might that work?
