syknesss
after i park my car and put it in park it will kinda jump forward a little bit slowly i was thinking maybe its the trans mount but im not sure any comments? the car has 184k miles on it
Pontiac6KSTEAWD
Thats quite normal for any automatic car. The parking Pawl hasnt reached the stop end gear, so it rolls a little bit until it gets there. I just use my parking brake, I dont like putting the stresses on the motor/motor mounts. Grand Moff Joseph
Thats quite normal for any automatic car. The parking Pawl hasnt reached the stop end gear, so it rolls a little bit until it gets there. I just use my parking brake, I dont like putting the stresses on the motor/motor mounts. Next time you park, the car, put it in neutral, apply the parking brake, then shift into park. Problem solved.
BXX
Most of the sway is from the upper torque struts.... It's normal. But if it seems excessive, replace the torque struts...

CSI_MuNkY
you mean... that slight movement is bad for all the mounts? I don't plan on keeping my engine long and all, but I'm gonna start using my parking brake! Jamie
Cam'ron
how much is excessive? i dont see it being bad for the mounts unless the car is on a big hill or something and slams into the stop pins. little creep on flat ground 2-3 inches isnt gonna hurt anything
terryk2003
i always put my ebrake on when i park, just to avoid that...just put the ebrake on before you shift the car into park...
Cam'ron
but the dinging and warnings is sooooooooo annoying
terryk2003
uhh...doesnt ding...just put foot on brake til you stop, then push ebrake in with other foot, then shift to park...
CSI_MuNkY
I wish it would ding when you left the parking brake on... When I installed my subs the power cable was in such a place that the next time I stepped on the parking brake it fell into the assembly. When I let off the brake again the cable got in the way and stopped it from releasing completely. I went for a drive and noticed the car was a bit slower than usual, and it had that funny smell of burning brakes. So I pulled over and sure enough my rims were nice and toasty. Lesson learned, the power cable isn't anywhere near the brake assembly now. Jamie
Cam'ron
mine dings if i am in gear and push the ebrake... i dont know about you "pontiac" but my chevy does

Crazy K
so... I looked at a 70's cadillac one time (and my dads 72 lincoln) both had vaccum selonoids to release the brake. Should I try one is in a W?

Andrew
ive never bene in a auto car and not had that same here. no ding for me. i do the neutral/e-brake thing all the time in a slow drive-thru.
BCM
They don't ding in Neutral, well at least mine doesn't.. Just Reverse, Drive etc.
digitaloutsider
What's so hard about using your parking brake anyway? The Regal dings in everything but park and neutral.
BCM
My friend's '05 Grand Am has about 26k miles on it and his ebrake doesn't work anymore cuz he ALWAYS uses it when he parks..It worked perfectly when he got it w/ 22-23k on it. The only place I could find understandable where he would need to use it is his driveway, as it is kinda steep.. Oh and he still pulls it up when it doesn't even work Same situation w/ my dad's Tahoe.
Pontiac6KSTEAWD
That should be covered under warenty (the e-brake cable). I would be getting that fixed, especially on a GA, they have enuf problems with the front end, dont need to add parking stress to it.
