MonteCarloChick Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I noticed that my driver's side mirror when driving at higher speeds will move violently within it's housing. Has anyone ever has this happen to them before? Can I just take the mirror off and maybe reattach something or is it broken? I know I can just take the mirror off and look for myself, I'm just wondering if this was a common problem or not. Thanks Quote
97loudcut Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Ha! Mine does the same thing, only the drivers side. I just ignore it. When I used to have my subs the mirror looked like it was going to rattle off. Quote
1990lumina Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 Do you have power mirrors? If so, one or more of the gears are probably stripped causing play, and lets the mirror move at higher speeds. One my Lumina (non powered, but remote interior mirrors) I had this problem..and it turned out one of the mounting locations inside the housing cracked/I must have hit it in winter or something. So I put a large screw into it and siliconed it all up. Doesn't move around at all now.. My mirror just pops out of the housing (few clips behind it)...it's a little tricky to get it back on though! This way, or way not be your problem...but i'm guessing it's either a cracked/broken mounting spot within the housing, or if you have power mirrors, maybe a few gears are stripped causing play. I dunno if it's a replaceable part, or if you'd need to pull one from a yard/eBay? Quote
