19Cutlass94 Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Ive tried searching, but I got tired of it not working. But anyways, I found some info, but not everything Ive been looking for. Ive got this ADDCO bar to be installed, but its going in the Cutlass, which has no rear sway bar. I know the holes are there for the hangers on the frame rails, but the are not threaded. Do those brackets come with the bar? I know pretty much everything else I need, and what I have to do to install it, but Im still unsure of this aspect. I was reading in pervious threads, that since the holes are there in the frame rails, addco makes those brackets that aid in the installation of the bar. Then youll have the bracket that goes around the actual bar itself. But if for some reason these brackets ( attach the bar to the frame rails ) dont come with the bar, does anybody know any part numbers of brackets or how I could mount the bracket? Im just trying to figure everything out before the cars rear suspension is basically apart and I have tp wait for more parts. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted January 25, 2007 Author Report Posted January 25, 2007 Bump on this. Does anyone have any pics of the ADDCO bar installed on an FE1 car using the ADDCO hardware? Quote
PCGUY112887 Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 I wish I could help ya, but I only know about installing a bar with a bar already there. Did it not come with instructions? I have some (mine didn't come with any either, I had to have someone scan some in for me). Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 It came with instructions, but ask anyone who has gotten them, they looks like a random sketch on a piece of paper, but I guess itll have to do. Since I dont have time/money to go to the jy and get all the brackets, Ill have to use the ADDCO hardware, and I dont know if anyone has used them the way I intend to. Thats why I was wondering if anyone has done it this way. It would just make it alot easier if they had some pics and or could tell me what went good and what didnt. The only thing I know Ill have to do, its drill 4 holes in the frame rail to mount the u-bolt. Other than that, its just going by the sketch they call directions.... Quote
pwmin Posted March 6, 2007 Report Posted March 6, 2007 hated to start another topic, so im stealing this one. we need a sticky about the revised addco bar. anyone know a difinitive answer on where you can get a revised 474 bar for 1st gens? Quote
J Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 talk to pat (the guy i bought my car from) he put a z34 bar on the cutty that was FE1 Quote
Mach 5 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Im still waiting for my bar that I ordered 2 months ago. So I cant help ya right now. But when I do get it, you can expect me to put up how I installed it. Good Luck Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 7, 2007 Author Report Posted March 7, 2007 I could tell you exactly how I put the addco bar on my FE1 car. I think he wants to know more of where you get the revised bar. The one I got the 1st design. Quote
Mach 5 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 I ordered from www.truckperformance.com Its a good site but Addco keeps on screwing me over. They order the bars directly from Addco at the time of purchase so you get a brand spankin new bar that hasn't been sitting on a shelf for years and has the latest revision. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 7, 2007 Author Report Posted March 7, 2007 My bar came from addco as well when i ordered mine. However I was still shipped the 1st design. Im not sure if they just wanna get rid of those so they ship them out first Quote
97loudcut Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 I thought the first design rubbed on the FFP CO's Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 7, 2007 Author Report Posted March 7, 2007 Not all of them did. Some were having issues with rubbing the struts and also hitting the lateral link bolts. However I do not have this problem. It was really just a hit or miss problem. Either you had it or you didnt. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 BTW, heres a picture of how you install the addco bar and addco hardware on a FE1 car: Quote
Nick1234 Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 So i take it you got it installed. How difficult was the job and how much did it cost? Also, would there be enough room with the dual outlet exhaust to install one of those. I will be running 2.5-3'' exhaust so i was curious about room. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted March 11, 2007 Author Report Posted March 11, 2007 Theres more than enough room to run dual 3" exhaust. Thats not an issue. As far as cost, it was just the bar itself because it comes with all the hardware needed. All you need is a 3/8" drill bit and a drill. ( electric if at all possible, trust me youll need it ) It wasnt that hard of a job. The worst part was drilling the 4 holes for the u-bolt, and getting that in. After that it was a breeze. Quote
