Gutting air box

I was just wondering if anyone has done a how to on this. i've heard all these people talkin bout it but what exactly do you guys do.

guys have cut the side of the air box next to the batery in hope to bet more air and not suck in the hot air from the engine like most cone filter setups for our cars.

Use the search feature using the words " air and box ". You'll find such words of wisdom such as these and more:

 

On the V6 (non-turbo) box, I modified my v6 DOHC box by cutting the top of the tube inside the box to allow air to flow more readily accross a larger surface area of the filter. This also allows more engine noise to escape to our ears. My 3.4 had been running out of steam way too early, and I found the culprit was a shrunken inlet cone going to the box. I contorted it to stay at its maximum inside diameter, and with the help of a drop in K&N it then pulled to the stratosphere.

I tried cutting out the sides of a spare one i have, but the rotart tool i had didnt do much. So i will be drilling holes in grids down the side and front.
