THe_DeTAiL3R Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Bought my car for $2300 and it required about $1000-1200 to be saftied. Over the 2 years I've had it I estimate approx $2000-2500 total on repairs. I excluded general maintenance (oil changes, etc) and stereo cause that can be removed from the vehicle. Still needs: Struts (all of them) Strut plate bearings Radiator (I think) new summer tires ... and eventually the tranny WILL probably take a shit, who knows when though. Quote
AWeb80 Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I don't wann know..... especially w/ all the stereo upgrades.... I know i've got 1K in suspension alone. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 I know i've got 1K in suspension alone. What did you spend it on? For me buying the FFP, ST, and maybe Held trailing arms, its still no where near 1k! Quote

CNBZ34 Posted December 21, 2006 Report Posted December 21, 2006 But you have to look at it as part of ownership and the expense of keeping up your ride. I slam 150+ miles a day on my Z commuting back and forth to work. This past year alone, after 21+K miles, I've dropped approx $1500 or so. Some for repairs I flat had no time to do, some for wants that we're not necessary. But if you like your car and are proud of it, it comes with the territory. I could easily afford to go out and buy a nice new Chevy truck, but the thought of $400+ a month and still having maintenance cost????? naaaaaaaa, I'll pass. I have 6 different rigs, all paid for and all have a purpose. All told though, probably into my Z for close to 8K total. But the dollar to mile ratio is still really good. 1816XX on the clock right now. Quote
tdaye Posted December 21, 2006 Author Report Posted December 21, 2006 I could have got out with less the 1/2 the money I have spent in total, but I tend to replace everything as I go along with the troubled part. The good part is that i have a friend who's dad owns a parts wholesale place so I get everything WAY below retail. I keep thinking there is nothing left to replace and then something else comes up. 1990lumina Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Haven't put really much money into my Lumina...I've replaced the rear struts, put in the monoleaf pucks and really nothing much else. This spring it's gonna need new front struts and possibily some other front end components, brakes, tires, might get the lower half repainted, and the motor sounds like it's gonna throw a rod any time lately...weeeeee!!!!!! Bossman429 Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 I have a total of: $3013.62 in the STE including purchase, but I do A LOT for free, and usually only pay for parts. Quote
