95 3-4
95 gtp 91k on the clock, new plugs new wires, cleaned iac and tb, car falls on its face sputters and sometimes backfires when you mash the gas down from a stop, if you take off slow it usually motors up without a problem im talking like pushing it an 1/8 of the way, like a normal driver would......so if i ever floor it, its like HONDA hold on 2 seconds and the power will be ON. No SES and once she initially falls on her face she will build power and fast from 2k to 6k then shift sounds good too, i almost lost to a sunfire last night just because i have no reaction for like atleast 5 foot of rolling I thought maybe low fuel pressure and still havent verified that it is good, but it uses more gas at higher rpm and thats the only place it runs good, well it also idles just fine, no lope no hunting nothing I tried disconnecting sensors to see if it got worse trying to find a bad one, but that was basically to no avail it seemed to run and rev the same with the maf, tps, iac, egr, iat, cam disconnected one at a time of course, tho i doubt starting would be the same with some of those disconnected, the iac seemed to work fine, cleaned the pintle upp some , also the maf looks nice and clean, also cleaned some with electro contact cleaner Seems like when i first mash the gas i hear some pre ignition so maybe its timing related, i thought maybe cam sensor and i aint paying 90 dollars to have like a 90 percent chance if that, cam sensor have a moving part inside it, cause sometime i hear a noise from right by it, i would say like a bearing that is spun spinning "but only when it catches" every few revs and tho it looks to be a stock piece the timing belt looks to be in great shape, the teeth are nice and sqaure and hardly worn, tho i will be replacing it soon Well thanks for all the anticipated help guys and im sure i'll be here for awhile *****8looking for chrome grand prix gtp decklid badge***** $
Robby1870
Well my vote is crank position sensor. However, you said it idles fine. What about revving it while its in park? Will it sumble then? Lemme know on that. Robby
95 3-4
yes if you floor it it hesitates bigtime
Pabz
Coils? Module? Check those out, i had the same symptoms, check the motor mounts too!
Baddflash
Sounds like coils to me, unless your air filter is horribly dirty.
KinG_NothiN
sounds like coils to me too cause mine had a problem pretty close to yours when i first bought my car. the guy that owned it before me was a mechanic and he replaced the coils, plugs, wires, all that stuff and the problem would still come back every so often. finally, he figured that if he sprayed ignition protector on it every so often it would stop it. so now, i do it every 3 - 4 months or so. thats just my 2 cents though, could be a different problem
Robby1870
yes if you floor it it hesitates bigtime Does it get spark? Find a Inductive timing light and see if its gettin spark. If its not, then its either the crank position sensor or ECM. If you get spark and its sporadic, then ICM (Ignition control module), plugs, wires, or coils Robby
95 3-4
i did the timing light trick (good tip on that one) and the spark is all there, the spark increases at wot but while its hesitating you can see howe slow the flashes increase compared to when its revving good up to rev limit i swear its got to be fuel or timing related but no ses wtf, i wish i still had my regal where i could flash the codes out, only problem i ever had with it was a bad maf, i flashed the code out got another maf problem solved and with obd1 where can i get a scan tool ? i mean besides a 1200 dollar snap on one, i assume there is no flashing them out right? also, anyone have any suggestions on why everytime i try to post on here i get the General Error of invalid session ???????? Robby1870
Alright, since your getting spark, it has to be in the somewhere in the following things. Plugs, wires, coils, ICM. If none of that, then ECM but I doubt that. Start with wires first. The easiest to do, do a resistance check on each one. New wires should have around 20 thousand Ohms resistance. If yours are above like 50 thousand, I would say some new ones are in order. Can you single out which wires are not increasing in their sparking with rpms? If you can coil #1 holds cylinders 1 and 4, coil #2 holds 3 and 6 and coil #3 holds cylinders 2 and 5. So, if you can find which wires arent firing correctly you can pinpoint which coil/coils are messing up. Robby
95 3-4
they all increase in rpms the same, but you can see the lag while its choking trying to rev down low, once its above 2k rpms its rev happy as can be, from 1k-2k is flat dead, flooring it makes it go slower, if you let up it catches itself quicker, granny starts are problem free purrs right up
