rockfangd
hi everyone, one of my customers has a 98 chevy lumina 3100v6 and her power steering return line blew today so it looks like i have a new job its the line that has th zigzag cooling setup that mounts to the frame. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get to the line side that goes to the rack, from what i can see it is impossible to get to from the bottom, and also if there is any special way i have to prime the pump and remove the air besides turning the wheel lock to lock. thanks in advance
paulo57509
I'm not familiar with the late model W-Bodies, but I get to the rack fittings on my '92 Lumina from the top by rotating the engine, and then using flare nut crow foot adapters and a long extension and ratchet. I also had to make a short 19mm open end wrench by cutting a cheapo AutoZone wrench in fourths. The by-the-book method is dropping the engine cradle. Be advised that trying to snake that return line in and out from around the frame is a PITA. At least for me it was.
