Crazy K Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 thats what the topic says. I may be doing an entire engine/total drivetrain replacement on my 95 CS 3100. I could stick in an LQ1 with attached tranny from a 95 CS. I could install a 3400 topend on the 3100 short block (heads are 95.5 heads capable of the roller rockers) or get the 3400 in a chevy venture van (taxicab ) at the j/y and throw it on. or get the 3400 chevy venture van engine and a 4t65(hd?) or something automatic and heavy duty. what would you do and why? 19Cutlass94 Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 out of your choices, a total 3400 intall. I wouldnt bother with a tranny upgrade. Quote
Psych0matt Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 out of your choices, a total 3400 intall. I wouldnt bother with a tranny upgrade. in all seriousness i would do this Ken. Was that the van by the gate up front? I didnt look at the engine Quote
Crazy K Posted December 13, 2006 Author Report Posted December 13, 2006 I RESET the POLL! I goofed it. I could stick in an LQ1 I happened upon..... along with a full harness and tranny! or get parts or an engine from a venture van at a yard. Quote
Andrew Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 I would stay away from taxi engines. Mostly city miles and abused 90% of the time. If you were to pick that up, it would needs its own rebuild IMO. LQ1 well yeah i like it but ...... well you know how those engines are, especially used ones. How many miles does your 3100 have? If its low and in good shape, i vote just the top-end swap. If its high mileage/and or in rough running shape i'd do a full 3400 swap. Or my answer for everything, turbo l36! Quote
