look at the number of units affected... if correct/ accurate that would be the whole 1989 model year production

THIS COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL GROUND THAT COULD RESULTIN AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.

Remedy:

REROUTE OIL FEED PIPE; ALSO INSTALL A NEWLY DESIGNED CLAMP AND BRACKET TO LOCATE PIPE AWAY FROM THE STARTER.

EDIT: also this recall only affected the 89 model year

Just because that's the number of units affected, doesn't necessarily mean that's how many were produced. The production numbers that were posted here a while back that a guy received from Pontiac in 1991 are probably pretty accurate(750 1989's total, 375 Black, 375 Red).

mfewtrail:

What are your figures for the 1990 TGP's, and how many black and how many red?

Thanks. : )

2,725 1990 TGP coupes and 1,000 Turbo STE sedans. Breakdown by color on the 1990's is unknown.

Okay. I wondered because Project Manager told me that parts were made for about 2,500 1990 TGP's (could have been 2,725 like you say, but that only 1,900 were actually finished). I believe it was 900 red and 1,000 black but don't remember which was the higher number.

I think there are more red 1990's than black ones. Larry, what project manager have you been in contact with? From ASC or McLaren? I'd like to talk to someone from McLaren that worked on our cars...

Well, I guess you could start at the top, which would be Wylie McCoy. He's now President of McLaren. He has may have already forgotten more about the TGP than we'll ever know. Just kidding. I know a lot of folks here have a lot of knowledge about our cars. That's why I am here, but it will awhile before I can report a 9.75 at 144mph. LOL
