I just purchased an '03 Regal GS. Everything seems to be working except the driver's side heated seat. I tested the connectors at various places under the seat and found the following (with the engine running and the seat switch on;

- both orange wires = 13v

- solid black = ground

- black with white stripe = ground

- pink and light blue were 8v and 13v depending on switch position.

Driver's and passenger side seem to be identical and the passenger side works fine, I'm speculating that the switches are both good.

I appears as though there is a relay or control module on the seat track.

Are these failures common and if so, what is the mast likely issue?

- module

- heating coils in the seat

If the module, are the driver's side and passenger side modules interchangable (at least for testing purposes)?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

The heating element itself fails, and the only real way to fix it is to replace it entirely. IIRC, it's a gigantic PITA.

Try asking over on the RegalGS.com forums. http://www.regalgs.org/forum

EDIT: Here are a few posts about the seats:

Thanks....this helps greatly.

While I have experience with soldering, considering the inconvenience of getting at the broken wire(s), and the likelihood other wire(s )will eventually break, I'm thinking I'll just get (a) new element(s).

Maybe I read the posts incorectly, but can the LeSabre element be used on the back AND bottom of the seat?

GMPARTSDIRECT.com ( GM PART # 25730800 ) lists $62.40 which is less expensive than the after kit which includes more than you need.
