tdk90nitro
Mr car is a '90 Cutlass sedan,Auto 3.1 76,000+ miles I was leaving my house after letting the car warm up for a min or so. got in, open the heater to full and proceeded to drive. Vent heat was coming out pretty decent, then 1/2 mile away from the house, no heat. Immediately I know there is a broken coolant line somewhere. Turned my fans on, and limped back to the house. Looked under the hood and coolant was coming out of one or both hard lines leaving(or going to??) from just under the thermostat housing. Pretty much looks like it is coming out of the threads of one of them. There are a few things. One, anyone know what those lines are called, and if they can be bought new (with the threaded part as well), or if I have to get them out of another 3.1? Also, is there an easy fix for this? (probably not, but worth a shot) I've never really been hard on the car. and about 1,500 miles ago, put in a 180 themorstat instead of the stock 195. Never overheated, and always had fresh coolant. I don't mind having to replace something on it, If I could just walk into a dealership/parts store and know what part I am looking for. All of this happened last Friday, now being a week later, I cannot wait anymore to get it back on the road. I would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks, J.g. tdk90nitro
Well, after getting someone who knew a good bit about the older w-bodies at a dealership, I found out the name of the part. Heater Nipple? Anyways, GM part # 24503681 something like $13 a piece for those. I know I didn't get a response out of anyone. There was already a question like mine up which I didnt see till a day or so after posting mine, so hopefully I dont embarrass myself again, by asking a question that has been asked or been answered in a previous/current topic. Thanks anyways, this topic is done. J.g.
THe_DeTAiL3R
Sorry I would have helped if I read the topic eariler. I was gonna suggest the nipple!! It goes into the lower intake from the heatercore. Mine broke when I was changing the heatercore (bending the rubber hoses cracked it).
