Mach 5
Every once in a while when I'm driving at about 25 mph, the car will just rev and not accelerate. It does this only when Im easy on the gas or going around a turn. It almost seems like the car just wants to shift from 2nd into 3rd. Could this be from the 2-3 band transmission band not being properly adjusted right?
19Cutlass94
Could also be that the clutches are starting to slip.
89GP_SE
check your tranny fluid, maybe its time for a flush
Addicted To Boost
If it does it around corners, your tranny is prolly low on fluid. Low fluid (magnified when going around a corner) will cause a false neutral, like you are describing.
Addicted To Boost
I would do a tranny flush and fill it to the proper level to fix this.
Mach 5
I just did a fluid change about 300 miles ago. i know that I just added some more fluid last week. Maybe she still needs more. On the dipstick, all 4 holes are filled in. How much more over that can I fill?
89GP_SE
i learned over time that if I over filled my tranny by a half a quart that it would not do the slippage around corners
19Cutlass94
Umm I wouldnt over fill it because it means its full, and the problem is not with the fluid level.
Mach 5
Thats what I was thinking too. The original owner of the car (my mother) who brought the car new, said that she remembered it doing this. Is it normal maitnance to get the bands adjusted with every fluid change? When I did the change at 94,800 miles I didn't see any chunks or much metal floating around and the fluid was still red. I changed it though because it was never changed. So I don't believe that the trans is going out on me anytime soon.
