digitaloutsider Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Bendix, Garrett, Autolite, and Prestone are all reputable brands. It's really just Fram that sucks. Quote
97loudcut Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Bendix brakes FTW BTW I use Havoline right now because it is THE cleanest oil I have ever seen. We have almost every brand of oil at my work (you name it we got it, seriously) and I went through all the conventional oils and Havoline "looked" the best. Plus it's been around forever. Now for the question. A guy came into my work with a 3400 and it had lifter tick. My boss suggested Castrol 10W40 to take the tick away. The guy came back a week later and said "thanks" because the tick was gone. Should I go to 10W40 when summer hits? Quote

Yeah, obviously the thicker oil will quiet the motor down, but doesn't it go away when it gets warm? Also, there are so many additives you could put in also. Lucas is good. I've also heard of putting trans fluid in to quiet lifters. Quote
joey b Posted November 30, 2006 Report Posted November 30, 2006 BTW, which ones are the "true synthetics" Quote
