fleetwoodguy79 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I just got a new job as a service tech at a local auto shop, and there is a guy there that is gonna help me rebuild my soon to be DOHC. Now our question is, can you send the motor to a machine shop and have them bore out the cylinder at all? And does anyone make forged pistons for it? We're hoping to get this project started in the next few weeks... anyone wants a great running 3100 I still have it for sale! But please let me know if this is possible, thanks!! Graham Quote
Robby1870 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 you can buy forged pistons of most any diameter. You should be able to bore it out, I dont know the tolerances, but Im sure theres room for atleast .020in. Just do some research on how much you can bore it out, then whatever bore you wind up with, look for pistons of that diameter, and you should be good to go. Oh, you might want to go with higher compression pistons, to get some more power of that DOHC. Whats stock compression? 9.25:1 or 9.6:1? Anyway, I would try for 10 or 10.5:1 compression, you should see a decent gain from that. Port and polish heads and intakes, bigger TB and you shold have good power Robby Quote
