Corteco or Felpro?

I am looking to buy some gaskets for the engine (see another post) and my choices are narrowed down between Corteco and Felpro. GM is about 200 over my budget. Just wanted people's opinion as to what they think is better if they ever used either of the two.

I've used FelPro before as well and I like them alot but this Corteco stuff pops up in quite a few places and they are a bit cheaper too. I could not get anybody at the counter to open a package though so I can see how they are made.

i'm doing the upper intake on my 95 with 105k miles.

The original engine is MIA!

I discovered has a crate motor with a date stamp of the old intake gasket of April 99, and it has the GM Goodwrench aluminized sticker on the rear valve cover. Since the car was at 93k in may of 2002 and now has 105k... the coolant passages are swollen... even though it's a low mileage motor! it wasn't leaking yet though. hooray for preventative maintenance!

btw. what the hell did they do to kill the last one? No Clue.

I'd roll with the Fel-Pro...FWIW, the Fel Pro Permadry Plus LIM gaskets for the 3x00 are the only ones I would ever use because from what i've seen they are HIGHLY and i do mean HIGHLY unlikely to blow out ever again.

Anybody here ever seen corteco gaskets? They are a smaller company, but they make "performance" head gaskets, and all the sets I've seen look to be very nice. Not sure what they cost, and I've never actually used a set yet (have a set here waiting to go on my T/A), but they look to be very good gaskets. Do a search on google or yahoo or something for them, you should find some good info.

Nothing wrong with felpro, I've used them plenty of times, but it never hurts to do a little research about other brands either.

Just my $.02

I've heard of a lot of gasket companies, but Corteco isn't one of them. I've put together about a dozen motors w/ fel-pro kits so far and never had any problems w/ them for what it's worth.

I'd just pick up DELCO for less on Ebay or some online store. But if it's still too expensive, both look good. If memory serves me right I used Corteco for the valve cover on my Saturn, it looked different but worked great so far. I know the Felpro's are going to egg me now...

Delco? Is that what GM uses from factory? I've actually heard from everyone I've talked to that factory gaskets are the worst that you can put on your car.

x2 on these. The Fel-Pro Permadry set that I put on my truck was 10x better than stock.

Anyone have the part number for updated Felpro intake gaskets? What is the difference between updated and original?

Better design, just make sure to get the Permadry name. It should be updated.
