KrazyCutlass1995
What should be the normal rpm driving range for a 3100 motor with 149k miles? Thanks.. :?:

KrazyCutlass1995
i mean each gear and what rpm it should be at when it shifts without strain on the motor
Redfox340
It all depends on how much you're giving the engine gas... My DOHC can shift from 1st - 2nd as low as 2000 RPM's and as high as 5600 RPM's. As long as you don't break redline, you shouldn't worry about straining the motor. - RedFox340
JS91Z34
that is a question that really can't be answered truthfully. Shift points are gonna vary depending on throttle position, and various other inputs. I can make my car shift at 1300 rpms or I can make it shift at 7000. In this case, their are to many variables to take into effect to give you an honest answer. You did say "without a strain on the motor". That is just gonna vary depending on the signals recieved from various sensors.
Robby1870
yeah, as long as the tach doest get above 6K then your good Robby
slick
When driving down the road, mine usually shifts at around 3000 for first, about 2900 for second, same for third. But like stated before, there are a bunce of variables to when your car shifts. Like i can have it shift at 2500 if I want to everytime. Robby1870
HAHAHAHAHA Where does the rev limiter kick in? 6200 or 6300? Ive had my 3.1L up to 6K, but theres no power there so its not worth it. However, my sisters 3100 does have power up top, maybe 6K would be worth it on hers Robby
ismellrealbad
mine shifts at 5500. maybe i should try maually shifting it at 6k? i know my old 3.1L after one of my 60 accidents with it shifted SCREAMING high. but because of the mega advanced LE guage cluster (no tach) i had no idea what rpm it was shifting at, but it was pretty damn high
