Turbo 3100

I really need as much help as possible in figuring this all out. As you probably already know from the subject...im working on a turbo kit for a 3100. I want to refrain from as much fabrication as possible. Is there anyone who knows if the crossover from the TGP will fit a 3100? Also, I could use a little help on the PCM part. Ive heard that a TGP PCM will work good as long as i get the whole harness. Can anyone back this up? Is it possible to use my harness with the TGP PCM? Thanks and please help me as much as possible.

if you use the TGP exhaust manifolds and the crossover, and port match the exhaust manifolds to match the D-shaped exhaust port on your 3100. 3.1Ls had a circular exhaust port

Well I was thinking...just block off the downpipe on the 3100 and then buy Jeff M's crossover pipe and bolt that in there...save me time looking for a TGP crossover and a lot of fabrication. I have a friend here in town that can make me turbo piping for under $200 installed in any color i want. I will let other people know what I am doing if i get underway with this soon.

If you read in the thread about Tim's turbocharged DOHC, he's not done any computer re-programing on his 1995 Monte Carlo. I would say, first, that the ECM from the TGP will NOT (in theory) work since your 3100 uses the hybrid OBDI system and theres more sensors on the the 3100 SFI than the 3.1L MPFI that the TGP code won't read. I say try it without the code and see what your PCM screems about... remember: Tim's computer accepted the boost, might be the way to go.

yeah, thats very true. Plus if you used a TGP chip you would go to Multiport injection, cuz it would fire a bank at a time and not fire each injector to coincide with the intake valve opening, which is what happends with SFI. Anyway, I agree try it witout a new PCM

If your car is MAF, you might be able to get away without any PCM modifications.

I'm almost certain the crossover pipes will be different, so I don't think Jeff M's pipe will just bolt on. You could cut/block off your existing rear manifold and weld a flange onto your existing crossover for the turbo.

Well the 3100s are MAP not MAF. I wish I knew somebody that knew if the crossovers fit. Yeah, im thinking of getting one fabricated but thats just a headache, ya know? But then again it could also be good, considering I will probably go with a T3 or something similar, so then i can just fabricate my own flange anyway. Well thanks everyone for the help...please continue with it.

My sis's 96 GP with 3100 has a MAF. But anyway, having a MAP and trying to turbo without going to a 2 bar and new ECM isnt going to work

For the 3100 you are not going to find any simple bolt on turbo parts, they are gonna need to be custom made. Not really a big deal though, just take it to an exhaust shop that does that sort of thing if you aren't willing to fab them up yourself.

The TGP will run a turbo 3100 motor just fine with some tuning, but it WILL NOT control your transmission.
