Z34-5speed
Ok, me and a buddy are working on his mom's 2005 Impala. We need to find the "Speed Gear Sensor", the thing that tells the spedo how fast the car is going. The car has the 3400. Where would this be located? Any info would be helpful. Thanks. patgizz
on the trans, just above where the passenger side axle goes into the housing.
Z34-5speed
Does it look like a sensor? Sometimes i will be fine and then all of a sudden it will jump to any speed, attempt to wrap around the speedo, then quit working. It then will start working again and repeat, in no particular order. jdcutty
Is this no longer under warranty. Being an 05 I think it should be. Im not exactly sure what it looks like, but you could just go pick up a new one, then find it's match on the tranny around where pat said it was. 5speedz34
Yeah, it looks like a sensor, there should be 5-10 wires going into it. If its an 05 take it to the dealer and have them replace it for free. Who know's it could be the cluster.
R Dubya
GM has so many problems with the clusters, I used to order them for a GM Center (Buick, GMC, Pont, Cad, Saab, every GM car not in warranty from GM) and I swear I must have ordered a 100 of them. If it's on 05, its within the time frame, and unless it has more than say 40k on the odometer I would have her take it to the nearest dealer and have them replace it for nothing. Either way its worth it to have them diagnose it so you don't go throwing parts into it blindly.
